OriginalFake unveil a new tee shirt design which looks like it will be part of their pocket tees for the Summer collection. This new rendition looks to feature one of the characters from KAWS’ signature illustrations, previously seen on various collaborations including colette and the NY Mag cover. With swirling speculation about who would take the reigns since NIGO(R)’s stepping down from A Bathing Ape, a familiar personality in the realm of streetwear in WTAPS’ Tetsuya Nishiyama has officially been announced via NIGO(R) himself as the new design face of the brand. With his involvement coming to light in the winter collection, there also looks to be the development of a new line titled URSUS BAPE(R). Berlin-based label Living Mutants unveil their Summer Collection for 2009. The lineup boasts a simple array of casual garments, highlighted by the use of darker color tones amongst premium button-down long sleeves, t-shirts, and various other knits. The collection offers a winning arrangement of lightweight Japanese cotton, implemented within the lineup, perfect for the warmer climate that Summer offers.  Mighty Healthy kick off their Summer 2009 Collection will a new range of graphic selections. Alongside their usual array of witty designs, the New York-based brand celebrates their 5th Anniversary with a special tee, fusing some of their most recognizable pieces into a commemorative version. The lineup is now available at select Mighty Healthy retailers nationwide.

Here’s a preview of an upcoming collaboration between KAWS and Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama. According to the arts collector,

We just caught wind of this upcoming figure collaboration between KAWS and Hajimie Sorayama. Based off the signature on the sketch, its clear this conceptual design was illustrated by Sorayama, however KAWS hinted to the project on his Dec. 2 blog post, noting the two had started working on the project a few years ago. The sculpture will be cast in metal and is a hybrid of the KAWS Companion with Sorayama’s Future Mickey Mouse (pictured below), which was also released by Medicom Toys. We can only guess this guy will be called Future Companion, continuing the ongoing progression of the character that KAWS has already developed, from the Original, through the Five Year Later versions. No news yet on a release date, but price is rumored to be around $1,100.

This is a project we definitely look towards.

April 1  Canon PowerShot SD780IS

Canon has finally taken on its super-slim rivals with the new PowerShot SD780 IS. SD780 IS is a sweet looking little digital camera that sports a 12.1-megapixel sensor, a basic 3x zoom, an optical viewfinder, HD Movie mode, image stabilization, and a vibrant 2.5-inch LCD.

April 7 Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1

Finding a great quality waterproof digital camera is one thing, but finding a waterproof digital camera that takes great pictures like the Panasonic Lumix TS1, that’s another. Panasonic TS1 is the most waterproof digital cameras lean heavily on their rugged capabilities to attract users, but the Panasonic Lumix TS1 delivers better quality images thanks to its 12.1-megapixel sensor, optical image stabilization, and excellent 4.6x optical zoom. The quality is so high, in fact, that we’re pretty sure Panasonic does special post-processing in the TS1 to nearly eliminate chromatic aberration and also other forms of distortion. It translates into better image quality from center to corner, despite the 28mm wide-angle lens, support some pretty big prints. We haven’t seen a great rugged digital camera than the Panasonic TS1.

April 10 Sony Cybershot DSC-W220

The entry-level model their W-series of digital cameras, the Sony Cybershot DSC-W220 is a camera that grew like most of digital cameras nowaday, the Sony W220 is the result of the megapixel race: 12 megapixels for a consumer digital camera is just silly. Fortunately, at reasonable of print sizes, output from the Sony W220 looks quite pretty nice. Its “Easy” mode also delivers what consumers want most in a camera thesedays: True “point & shoot” operation, able to produce great-looking shots in a wide range of conditions. It makes the Cyber-shot W220 a great digital camera for novices.

April 14 Nikon D5000

Nikon continues to put more the edges of digital SLR camera design, not only adding features, but consistently improve image quality. Though the Nikon D5000 doesn’t come to increase in resolution (which its own never equals an increase in image quality), it does for the first time bring the Nikon D90 excellent 12.3-megapixel image sensor within range those customers with less than $900 to spend. Adding D-Movie mode and an articulating LCD gives Nikon D5000 two excellent selling points that can actually serve both consumer and enthusiast photographers very well.

April 15 Canon Powershot SX10IS

Another long zoom digital cameras like the Canon SX10 IS may not offer all that an SLR does, but it take a backpack full of expensive SLR lenses to get equal to the SX10′s range, a camera which slips easily into a jacket pocket. Primed for stills and movies, the Canon SX10′s lens is also image-stabilized, and the zoom moves soundless as when you record, not interfering your videos. The Canon SX10′s articulating screen also lets you choose the angle of your next shot, excellent for getting low level shots of the children, or reaching over crowds of adults to get on what you need. The Canon SX10 IS is a useful digital camera, thank you to a new lens that ranges reasonably wide to ridiculously telephoto.
